The Whigs will hit the late-night big time, which isn’t as big as it used to be but is still pretty big. Well probably big.
The Athens trio will appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Aug. 12 to promote their latest album, In The Dark, which Newsday recently wrote was “blending melodies from 70s Rolling Stones and 80s Replacements with 90s grunge underpinnings to build a whole new rock animal.” The boys have been on tour with The Hold Steady, and join Kings of Leon and Black Keys for a series of dates beginning Sept. 2. The band will also make appearances at this year’s Outside Lands, Bumbershoot and Voodoo Music Festivals. Tour dates below.
Since the release of In The Dark, the band has performed on the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, completed a USO tour of Germany and The UK, shared the stage with the Kings of Leon in Hyde Park (London, UK) and toured with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Band Of Skulls, among others.
* Twin Tigers is planning to make more waves – Gray Waves that is.
Brooklyn-based Old Flame Records is debuting the full-length album from the Athens band. Twin Tigers has also been on tour, heading out with Minus The Bear, The Hold Steady and a run of dates with Interpol that started last week.
